Egypt 2017 - Day 15 - the journey home

Happily, I was able to get a solid six hours of sleep on the plane.  I was asleep before the first meal  was served !  They must have an obligation to wake you for the meals and when I was woken I must have looked really startled because the steward kept saying "It's ok, take your time" lol.   I was right back to sleep as soon as the tray was cleared.

Egypt 2017 - Day 14 - last full day in Egypt

Today is the day that it all falls apart and I have just about had enough of John. He won't stop talking and never leaves me alone . . . he's a 51 year old married man that doesn't know how to be by himself !?!  Or stick to a plan - arg.

Egypt 2017 - Day 13 - Alexandria to Cairo

Today started without an alarm ! But I was still up and ready to go by about 9am.

I sent my Hurghada friend, Tony, a message asking what a traditional breakfast would be - what should we look for as we wander out into Alexandria for the morning. Beans and falafel - yum, I can handle that !

Egypt 2017 - Day 12 - Bawati to Alexandria

Up and out by 8:00am today after we had the traditional breakfast of beans, a hard boiled egg, pita and "la vache qui rit" type cheese.  I quite enjoyed it but John only ate the pita - he's missing out.

Egypt 2017 - Day 11 - Bahariya Oasis Desert

Up and at it by the Crack of stupid today - 5:30 John and I were on the road for the desert. It is so amazing to see the pyramids just "there" as we the on the highway. 

It's a 6 hour drive to Bawati, where the Oasis is, and it is cold this morning. 

Egypt 2017 - Day 10 - Cairo

Today we visited the Museum. Museums aren't all that intriguing to me but the drive into the core of Cairo during morning rush hour sure was. Insanity ! ! ! At one point someone asked "what are the lines on the road for?" Because they DO NOT use them ever. Not even on the highway. A marked three lane highway

Egypt 2017 - Day 9 - THE PYRAMIDS ! ! !

Well, I saw the Pyramids of Giza today ! ! ! Pretty awe inspiring amazing ! ! !

Had a "weepy wow moment" - it is pretty powerful being there.

The most intriguing part is how close the are to the city. They are practically part of the city !?! But still incredible to see. 

Egypt 2017 - Day 8 - Luxor to Cairo

Off we go to see Karnak Temple during the day. We spent a lot of time here. It is massive and beautiful and old ! ! ! It is hard to comprehend just how old these places are. They are so elaborate and intricate and massive (this word will be used a lot I suspect) And all built by hand.  It's just mind blowing to see the detail. The hieroglyphs are almost overwhelming.

Egypt 2017 - Day 7 - Luxor

I don't want to be too whiny :-p but organized group tours stink.  I'm just not going to go into it.

So, up and out by 8am and off to our first temple - Habu Temple. Really quite amazing. Love love love the scenery around the temples. It is pretty amazing to be here and see these massive monuments that are 1000s of years old. Pretty incredible. The detail is just mind blowing.

Egypt 2017 - Day 6 - Hurghada to Luxor

Have I mentioned how fekking windy it is !?!? Insanely windy. Don't travel with me because it seems where I go, the wind goes !  Anyway, it was so windy last night it woke me up a few times. But I did get a bit of a sleep in - YaY.

Got myself mostly packed up . . . Put everything on the bed and wondered how the heck it was all going

Egypt 2017 - Day 5 - Hurghada Diving

Up and out to meet the driver on the road this morning - it's just easier (even they have to jump through hoops to get to the door of the hotel)

Different boat today and more Germans. They really are inconsiderate. Totally oblivious to everything and everyone around them above and below water. Talked to several of the guides and they really dislike them !

Egypt 2017 - Day 4 - Dive Hurghada

I was too tired last night to write. I'll do my best to recap my day 4 !

Pick up for my dive day was 8:30. Not too bad, not too too early. Went directly to the boat !? All gear is on board because they don't actually have shops. Interesting. And different.

Egypt 2017 - Day 3 - Hurgahda

This one might be short.  It's 2am, I just got back to my room after an insanely fun evening ! ! ! And, I'm diving tomorrow morning . . . Oh boy !

So, I changed my accommodation to a resort like place (yuck - but didn't have better options)  And sadly, after some rest I was feeling better about my original place but already had booked this.

Egypt 2017 - Day 1 - Toronto to Cairo

I'm exhausted.  I have 3 hours until my next flight. I'm terrified I'm going to fall asleep and miss it !  Seriously, I'm exhausted, never felt faint like this before . . . almost a seasick, on a boat, kinda swooning feeling !

But, that's because I didn't sleep a wink on the 11 hour flight. And that's because I made a new friend - lol
